A Family Legacy Reimagined for South Boston

About Us

Started by Brion Tunney in 1991, Java House began as a small neighborhood coffee shop just as South Boston was turning over a new leaf. With its colorful mix of flavors, loyal regulars, and friendly staff, it quickly became a community favorite — a place where everyone felt like family.

Now, under the ownership of his son John Tunney, Java House of Pizza is continuing that legacy with a modern twist. By blending coffee, pizza, and community inside Southie Bowl, we’re creating something fresh for today’s Southie — while keeping the same heart and hometown spirit that’s defined us for more than 30 years.
